Christian Dior's latest womenswear collection left onlookers stunned at Paris Fashion Week, as they brought their effortless glamour to Jardin des Tuileries this season. Their vintage, nostalgic inspiration mixed with modern silhouettes added a reminiscence to the collection, the patterns and fabric used throughout the show creating a sense of the medieval, Victorian era with a modern-day touch, creating a sense of darkness around the angelic looks. The collection was brought to life by designer Maria Grazia Chiuri, who paid homage through the reminiscent collection to Dior’s Creative Director during the ‘90s, Gianfranco Ferré, who was known to take inspiration from different eras in history and culture. Vintage silhouettes incorporated with current trends and modernity being his staple that shines through Maria’s collection this season.

The inspiration from Gianfranco’s F/W 1989 collection, in particular, through the use of lace and Victorian references, made people reminiscent not only of the effortless glamour of this vintage period but also of the elegance and haute couture masterpieces that Gianfranco brought to Dior. His creativity and art being the centrepiece of Chiuri’s F/W25 show this season in Paris, channeling the dark vintage feminine looks that Dior is so well known for.

Besides this reminiscence of medieval Victorian glamour and Gianfranco’s artistry at Dior, they also channeled an era that is dominating collections this season due to its trendiness and nostalgia in the industry today, Y2K. The inclusion of their iconic ‘J’adore Dior’ t-shirts layered alongside the Victorian-style garments created a sense of modernity on top of the nod to the iconic t-shirt that dominated 2000’s fashion, being a staple when it comes to channeling Y2K.

The incorporation of this nostalgic Y2K staple that is so appealing to fashion today alongside their vintage medieval garments reminds us that the essence of Dior is here today and has not been forgotten. Chiuri reminded us through this collection that Dior’s vintage inspirations and nods to their lengthy legacy behind them will forever be at the heart of the collections as well as the brand of Dior itself, acknowledging the more modern and Y2K iconic looks as well as the elegance and glamour that's deeply rooted in the core of its brand. The nostalgia and iconic references that this Fall/Winter collection conveyed to the fashion world were not just jaw-dropping but widely recognizable, once again reminding us why Dior is one of the leading high fashion brands when it comes to fashion shows and nostalgia.
