Oasis’ Wardrobe Is Everything We Are Aiming For This Fall

At the beginning of September, Charli XCX took to Twitter to officially say goodbye to her iconic #bratsummer with a heartfelt post stating, “Goodbye forever, Brat Summer”. That said, it’s time to put away our micro shorts and Havaianas to get ready for our favorite season: fall. And, who are we taking our style inspiration from? Oasis.

Just a few weeks ago, the legendary British band shook the world by announcing their long-awaited reunion, and we just can’t shut up about it. The band is set to tour across the UK and Ireland during the summer of 2025, fifteen years after their “break-up”.
As die-hard fans of the Manchester-based group (im)patiently await the day they can pour their hearts out to “Don’t Look Back in Anger” in stadiums next year, we’re diving into the band’s iconic Britpop aesthetic to channel this fall.

The Britpop movement surged in the ‘90s with the rise of rock bands such as Eclectica, Suede, Blur, and, of course, Oasis. The aesthetic developed as a form of rejection of the dominant American grunge culture, with polo shirts, parkas, and baggy jeans defining its style. The Britpop uniform was inspired by the everyday fashion of Northern England’s working class, and the “Wonderwall” performers embraced this utilitarian formula by favoring functional brands like C.P. Company, Umbro, and Stone Island over high-end houses.

The Gallagher brothers’ signature look mainly featured parkas, oversized crewnecks, and Kangol bucket hats. During Liam Gallagher’s time on stage in the 90s, he was rarely seen without a windbreaker, often paired with circular-shaped shades inspired by John Lennon. Noel Gallagher also opted for a laid-back style when performing, favoring pieces like 504 Levi’s, classic polo shirts, and football kicks.

Today, Britpop’s comeback is in full swing. Last year, the rise of "blokecore" had everyone wearing football jerseys and baggy jorts, regardless of their actual interest in the sport. This brat summer was all about “Indie sleaze”, where mini skirts, off-the-shoulder graphic tees, and smudged makeup dominated. Now, as the gray, rainy days approach, Gallagher’s old-school closet is everything we need to cope. With that, how can we score that Oasis-inspired look? The key elements you should consider are outerwear, straight jeans, and, most importantly, accessories.

Starting with outerwear, we are keeping it baggy. Some of the best pieces to achieve this look are oversized crewnecks, zip-up track jackets, and parkas. Brands like Stone Island, C.P. Company, or classic sportswear brands have your back with great options. Look for knee-length fits with water-resistant features to get the best style and functionality. Pair these with straight-fit jeans - bonus points if you score a pair of 504 Levi’s. To top it all off, throw on some Lennon-like shades or a Kangol bucket hat, and you’re all set.

“We play rock and roll music for the kids. About everyday things, about being alive, about having a good time. And then, about being sad but knowing that you can get better. About observing what’s going on around you”, said Noel Gallagher in an interview just before the band rose to fame. This fall, we’re channeling that same carefree vibe, letting Oasis take control of both our playlists and our closets.
