All About Feelings: Bilbao BBK Live

Another year, another festival in the sun.

We’re close to Bilbao BBK Live, taking place on the 11th, 12th, and 13th of July. Set against a picturesque mountain backdrop within Bilbao city, Bilbao BBK Live stands out as one of Europe's largest festivals. Its lineup features internationally renowned artists, drawing attendees from across the globe. Ticket sales are on the rise in countries like Italy and Portugal (I hope I’ll be going - you should come too).

Last year, the independent Spanish promoter “Last Tour” also successfully gained B Corp certification for its festivals, including Bilbao BBK Live. "The measures include a strict waste reduction and recycling system, the promotion of sustainable mobility, programs to prevent sexist aggression and to support gender equality, the hiring of local teams, maximizing the social and cultural impact of the festival locally by promoting free-to-attend concerts, making donations to projects supporting migrants, reforesting forests, and contributing to a food bank,” said Eva Castillo - company comm’s director. So, Bilbao BBK Live transcends being merely a festival; it emerges as a social movement advocating for rights and sustainability while also ensuring the well-being of its attendees. Through its commitment to fostering a sense of community and responsibility, Bilbao BBK Live strives to create an environment where individuals can revel in the music while contributing to positive change.

This year, the festival will host dance pioneers such as Underworld, as well as contemporary revolutionaries such as Floating Points and Massive Attack. A lineup representing an intergenerational journey through the sounds and icons that have marked recent times. The first day will range from acid sounds to pop melodies, with the Prodigy, Folamour, and the amazing Jungle.

Bilbao BBK is also a celebration of local artists; in fact, Los Planetas will also be at the event, in a special concert for the 30th anniversary of their “Super 8”, where they will celebrate the crucial path they have traced in the Spanish indie rock scene.

In addition to the veterans, the festival's lineup also includes newcomers, from the Madrid pop band El Buen Hijo to Dharmacide. The festival will also have Grace Jones, along with Underworld, Jordan Rakei, and Ezra Collective. Once again, the festival distinguishes itself by its carefully connected international and national offer. In fact, we will also have MEUTE, a range of musicians and live instruments, known for their instrumental version of “You & Me” by FLUME - gone viral on TikTok.

The Bilbao BBK Live is not just a musical event but a moment of gathering and cultural enrichment. With a different yet coherent lineup, the festival offers a unique experience that fosters exchange and connection among people from all over Europe. The mixed lineup serves as a point of convergence for individuals with different tastes and backgrounds, creating a fertile ground for sharing experiences and exploring new sonic horizons. All of this takes place in an extraordinary setting, as the Spanish backdrop offers a rich cultural heritage made of local gastronomy, architectural marvels, and artistic expressions, adding an extra layer of depth to the festival experience.
