Sharon Stone, the Hollywood actress, has taken an unexpected turn in her artistic journey, now expressing her talent through painting as well. Stone, whose name is synonymous with Hollywood glamour and performances, has showcased her remarkable growth as a painter through her second art exhibition, Welcome to My Garden, at the C. Parker Gallery in Greenwich, Connecticut.

What once started as a simple past-time activity of paint-by-numbers during the lockdown, unleashed a newfound passion for painting. This proved to be a pivotal moment in her career and the beginning of a new chapter in her life. Stone decided to unleash her creativity by experimenting with abstract painting, which eventually led to her first exhibition, Shedding, earlier this year.

She has openly talked about her past trauma, motherhood, and the anxiety of working in the entertainment industry. The actress has also opened up about the therapeutic and healing effects on her life. After battling health problems and severe anxiety for years, her art has been instrumental in bringing a sense of healing and control into her life. Now evolved into a daily ritual, painting provides a sense of fulfilment and joy. She emphasises the happiness it brings not only to herself but also to those who view her artwork.

Stone, who started painting as a child, once again started creating to connect with her inner self and embrace her true identity. She has successfully exhibited her work for the second time to an even bigger audience. The Connecticut exhibition consists of 19 abstract paintings inspired by both Stone’s personal experience and social issues. The gallery owner, Tiffany Benincasa, comments, “You can feel the energy” as the artworks are dynamic, vibrant, and colourful. Stone attributes this to her health problems, which change her visual perception. She claims, “Since I had a stroke, I started seeing colour patterns on the wall,” causing her to see vivid patterns and colours. Now, Stone spends her time experimenting with colours, materials, and techniques, in order to effectively translate the world she sees into her artworks.

Stone’s art exhibition, Welcome to My Garden, will run until December 3 at the C. Parker Gallery, inviting art enthusiasts and the curious to experience her unique journey from the world of Hollywood to the world of art. Works can also be seen on the gallery’s website.
